$160 million for public education on the Kenai?<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Soldotna, September 29, 2014\u2014Does the bottom line in a $160 million+ budget matter to you? <\/strong>
\nThese are the top three reasons to ink the date for the districtwide KPBSD budget development meeting, coming to a school near you, Thursday, October 9, 2014, at 6:00 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Up front learning how KPBSD crafts an award-winning, multi-million dollar budget, every year<\/li>\n
  2. Give your opinion about budget areas to reduce and increase in 2015-2016. What matters, what doesn\u2019t?<\/li>\n

    \u201cThe district is again facing a fiscal gap for FY16 that may result in recommendations to our school board to reduce expenditures,\u201d said Dr. Steve Atwater, superintendent. \u201cI encourage the public to use this meeting as an opportunity to learn about this fiscal tension and to think in terms of what we can do differently to produce a balanced budget.\u201d<\/p>\n

    \"money\"<\/a>\u201cOur yearly budget is one of the most important things we do each year,\u201d said Dave Jones, assistant superintendent of instructional support. \u201cAs such, we like to give our students, parents, staff, and community members a chance to participate and offer input. The meeting on October 9, will be the first step in the process to develop the FY16 budget and we hope to see a large turnout at all our schools across the district.\u201d
    \nParticipant input will be synthesized and presented to the KPBSD school board during a work session on October 21, 2014.
