Based on overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups for making progress, 335 schools are honored as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School.<\/strong><br \/>\nOne of the 15 charter schools recognized nationally, and one of three schools in Alaska to receive this distinguished honor in 2015, Kaleidoscope School of Arts and Science in Kenai, Alaska, joins nine other schools in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) to achieve the National Blue Ribbon School excellence designation.<br \/>\n&#8220;This honor recognizes your students&#8217; accomplishments and the hard work and dedication that went into their success,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=iDhvIhG62uo&amp;feature=youtu.be\">Duncan said in a video message to the awardees<\/a>. &#8220;Your journey has taught you collaboration, intentional instruction, and strong relationships in school and with your community. You represent excellence\u2014in vision, in implementation, and in results\u2014and we want to learn as much as we can from you.&#8221;<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/wpmu\/files\/2015\/09\/COVER-1-Kalideoscope-School-of-Arts-and-Science.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-2184\" src=\"http:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/wpmu\/files\/2015\/09\/COVER-1-Kalideoscope-School-of-Arts-and-Science-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"COVER 1 Kalideoscope School of Arts and Science\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>\u201cI\u2019m honored our school has been recognized,\u201d said Robin Dahlman, principal. \u201cThis is a reflection of a vision shared by dedicated teachers, staff, students, families and community members to personalize integrated learning for all students. We look forward to continuing to provide excellence in all we pursue with children\u2019s learning and development.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cWe are very proud of Kaleidoscope and what they are doing for students in our district,\u201d said Sean Dusek, superintendent. \u201cThe staff, students and parents should be commended for all of their hard work to make this school such a wonderful place for kids. Congratulations and keep up the great effort!\u201d<br \/>\nThe U.S. Department of Education will honor all\u00a0285 public and 50 private schools at a\u00a0recognition ceremony on November 9-10, 2015,\u00a0at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C. Each school will receive an award plaque and a flag as symbols of their accomplishments. With forty-three diverse public schools spanning 25,600 square miles on the Kenai Peninsula, Sean Dusek, superintendent, explains, \u201cIn my opinion our diversity is an asset that all of us should embrace.
