{"id":5825,"date":"2019-09-14T15:24:01","date_gmt":"2019-09-14T23:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/?p=5825"},"modified":"2019-09-14T15:24:01","modified_gmt":"2019-09-14T23:24:01","slug":"91419-kpbsd-message-parents-emergency-schools-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/comm-test\/2019\/09\/14\/91419-kpbsd-message-parents-emergency-schools-closure\/","title":{"rendered":"9\/14\/19: KPBSD message to parents about Emergency Schools Closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday, September 14, 2019<a href=\"http:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/files\/2015\/10\/KPBSD-logo-4c-no-tag-SMALL.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2243\" src=\"http:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/files\/2015\/10\/KPBSD-logo-4c-no-tag-SMALL-150x150.png\" alt=\"KPBSD logo\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>KPBSD communications sent this message to all KPBSD parents and guardians via student contact information in PowerSchool.<\/em><br \/>\nDear KPBSD parents and guardians,<br \/>\n<strong>I am writing to let you know that beginning Tuesday, September 17, 2019*, all 42 schools in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will be closed until a Tentative Agreement is reached between the school district and the Kenai Peninsula Education Association (KPEA) and the Kenai Peninsula Education Support Association (KPESA).<\/strong><br \/>\nI want you to know that the school district bargaining team will continue to work with KPEA and KPESA to reach a Tentative Agreement that would end this strike.<br \/>\nYou will receive daily updates through your contact information in PowerSchool.<br \/>\nIt is important for you to know these things now:<br \/>\n<strong>Read: <a href=\"http:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/2019\/08\/30\/will-happen-strike-kpbsd\/\">What will happen if there is a strike in the KPBSD?<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong><u>On Monday, September 16, 2019, all KPBSD schools will be open on a normal schedule. <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure that your child takes home any personal belongings, and that you pick up any medications from the school nurse.<\/li>\n<li>Make any updates to your contact information in PowerSchool with the school secretary, and make sure to opt-in to receive text messages from KPBSD. Simply text \u201cYes\u201d or \u201cY\u201d to 67587 to receive text messages to your PowerSchool mobile contact.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Beginning Tuesday, September 17, 2019, all KPBSD schools will be closed during the strike and emergency schools closure.<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\nThe duration of the emergency schools closure is unknown, and you will receive daily updates and progress, starting with this message, until the work stoppage ends.<br \/>\nThe school district is very aware that this is a challenging and difficult time for everyone, especially our families.
