Trusted Mentors<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

Mentor Mysteries \u201cWanted Posters\u201d in a Month of Mentors!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

To\nhighlight Skyview Middle School mentors, the Sources of Strength team sent\nstudents on a mystery to determine the WHO in the wanted-poster mentors for the\nweek! <\/p>\n\n\n

The\ninvestigation and mystery encouraged students to connect with mentors, ask them\nquestions about their likes and interests, and find similarities between\nthemselves and Skyview Middle School mentors. Students who could figure out all\nthree wanted-posters each week were entered into a raffle for prizes. This was\nour coolest #sos campaign we did this school year!<\/p>\n\n\n

Family Support<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

Many\nof us feel stuck in problems and it is hard to see the solution. Sometimes\ngetting unstuck is simple when we have some strategies, techniques, or help.\nDuring Covid19 we feel like we are \u201cstuck\u201d at home, when really, we can and\nhave built on the strength of our Family Support! Skyview Middle School\nstudents learned the Yarn Knot Game this year, which can really assist especially\nnow!<\/p>\n\n\n

Sources\nof Strength is in 12 KPBSD schools: eight high schools, three middle schools, and\none K-12 school.<\/p>\n\n\n

A\nstrength-based comprehensive wellness program focusing on suicide prevention, Sources\nof Strength also addresses substance abuse, violence, resiliency, and\nrelationships. Teams of peer leaders mentored by adult advisors change peer\nsocial norms about seeking help, and encourage students to individually assess\nand develop positive strengths in their life.<\/p>\n\n\n
