I challenge myself and every KPBSD staff member this year to approach every interaction that we have with a student, colleague, parent, and community member with kindness, compassion, and understanding. I have no doubt that together we will not only get through this new school year but will also hopefully become more resilient and empathic to the needs of others.\u201d<\/em> <\/p><cite> -Superintendent John O\u2019Brien <\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Teachers\u2014you\nhave tools to use to help the first week of school! Educators can import Social\nEmotional Learning (SEL) courses directly from Canvas Commons. Ready to use\nare:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Social\nEmotional Learning K-2 Grades<\/li><li>Social\nEmotional Learning 3-5 Grades<\/li><li>KPBSD\nSocial Emotional Learning 6-8 Grades<\/li><li>SEL\nfor Secondary Students<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Each\nclass includes a Boot Camp for the first five days of school, with one core\ncomponent per day and a small selection of choice for an activity. If a teacher\nwants more, there are additional nine weeks of SEL learning. Bonus, a teacher\ncan personalize the course and assign it to students to complete remotely!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/communications.blogs.kpbsd.k12.ak.us\/files\/2020\/08\/SEL-Canvas-Course-class-content.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6783\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The KPBSD Boot Camp focuses on the five core components from <a href=\"https:\/\/casel.org\/\">CASEL<\/a>.
