DESCRIPTION:Title 1 Winter Family Engagement Flyer \nCome Make a Family Connection Activity Book \nSave the date on December 9th! We’ll be meeting in the big yurt at Little Fireweed from 1:30-3:30 to build Family Connection Activity books. \n  \nWhat’s a Family Connection Activity Book? \nSo glad you asked! \n  \nYou and your child will build a book full of fun and educational activities that you can complete together over the winter break. You’ll have until January 13th to do all of the activities you selected together. You’ll sign off on each activity your student completes\, and return the completed book to your child’s teacher. Each student who completes their book will get a small prize! Completed books will then be entered in a drawing for larger prizes\, held on January 13th. \nWhat is Title 1? \nThe KPBSD Title I program is made available through federal grants to improve the academic achievement of students in school serving populations of poverty. Money is allocated to schools based on economic need\, measured through free and reduced lunch enrollments. \nQualifying schools may choose to operate a targeted assistance or school wide program model based on their school’s identified needs. Students in a targeted assistance program qualify for Title I services based on academic need as indicated by universal screening. \nKPBSD Title I funds are used in a variety of ways\, including: \n\nTitle I Preschool\nTitle I Teachers and Paraprofessionals\nIntervention Supplies and Materials\nProfessional Development\nParent and Family Involvement\nExtended School (before and after school tutoring)
