Since I was 15 years old I knew I wanted to teach in Alaska, it was always just a matter of how to get there. I received my undergraduate degree at Northern Arizona University where I completed my student teaching on the Navajo Nation reservation in a Montessori charter school. Upon graduation I jumped at the first opportunity I had to teach in Alaska. This led me to Saint Mary’s, a Yup’ik village on the Yukon River Delta. In 2017, I earned my dream job in Homer teaching at Fireweed Academy. I am entering my third year with Fireweed while also working towards my graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I love talking about books with kids and getting them hooked on reading. I enjoy spending time with my black lab puppy, my new husband, camping, cross country skiing, cooking and of course, reading.
