This will be my 19th year with the KPBSD and my 16th year teaching at Fireweed. Adventuring in the outdoors and sharing this with children landed me in Alaska in 1992, guiding teen marine science kayak trips in Kachemak Bay. The Barren Islands soon became my home for 4 summers studying my love birds with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. I ventured out to Dutch Harbor as a naturalist aboard the Tustumena. In 1999 I got my teaching degree and have been teaching ever since. Playing with numbers and seeing patterns in our natural world is my thing. My students keep me passionate about learning with their curiosity about everything we explore together. I continue to play in the outdoors through rides on my horses, paddleboarding with my dog and packrafting, skiing and hiking with my husband and friends.
