As a lifelong Homerite I now feel fortunate to have the opportunity to raise my own son here and for Fireweed to be such a big part of our lives. I have been working with children since 1998, when I began teaching with Pier One Theatre’s Youth Theatre program. The creativity and ingenuity of the kids was electrifying. In 2009 I took a job with the South Peninsula Haven House Children’s Advocacy Center, where I coordinated the multidisciplinary response to child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse on the Kenai Peninsula. I was blown away by the resilience and sheer life force of the children I worked with. My son began attending Fireweed in 2016 and in 2018 I was thrilled to join the team as an Instructional Aide. When I’m not in school you can find me hanging out with my son or onstage at Pier One Theatre.
