While developing my voice as a painter when I received my Fine Arts degree in San Francisco, I simultaneously was incredibly interested in teaching children and the development of a holistic, inventive learning environment for them. This vision included movement and small specialized groups of students putting their efforts together to create a large, powerful, progressive community. When I relocated to Homer Alaska, I found that opportunity for my children already existed at Fireweed Academy! My experience working in our community consists of teaching Hip Hop and Tap to kids in Homer for 15yrs., working in Early Intervention, for 5yrs., and now I have been so lucky to teach at Fireweed Academy as an Instructional Aide while continuing as an artist. I am dedicated to our Fireweed teachers and their students in the patient work it takes to open minds and let the knowledge poor in through responsible and attentive teaching.
