The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance.\u00a0 Kenai Peninsula Borough School District has adopted <strong>ALICE<\/strong>, a proactive set of responses to an active school intruder event, which empowers students and staff to utilize human action. <strong>\u00a0ALICE<\/strong> stands for:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alert:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lockdown:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Inform:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Counter:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Evacuate<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Each year, we are required to have four ALICE drills with one being a live intruder simulation. There will not be <strong>ANY WEAPONS<\/strong> displayed or used in this simulation.<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement will be present and our building will be closed for approximately 30 minutes during this drill.\u00a0 If you are coming to pick your child up from school, do not be alarmed if you see law enforcement on campus.\u00a0 Our goal is to ensure that, in the event of an actual intruder, students and staff can discuss the various tools they have to react per the information they have available in real time.\u00a0 I appreciate your support in recognizing that safety is our priority.\u00a0 Thank you very much for your time.<\/p>\n<p>Will Chervenak<\/p>\n<p>Assistant Principal<\/p>\n<p>Kenai Central High School<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I want to take a moment of your time to inform you of our live ALICE drill on February 22nd at 10:00 AM.
