Please watch your e-mails for more upcoming Seward El news being sent out soon.  A couple of things are:   Soccer season for 4th & 5th graders has been postponed and hopefully will happen this spring.

Exciting news is we will be having a Scholastic Book Fair the week of Oct. 18-22 for in-school student shopping only. Book Fair flyers will be coming home with your students as the date grows closer. Have a wonderful, safe weekend!

No longer require universal masking beginning September 27th 2021

Dear Seward Elementary families and staff,

Thank you for your effort the past four weeks to keep as many people attending school in person. Our school will no longer require universal masking beginning September 27th 2021; however, we strongly encourage face coverings indoors at school. Factors that impacted this decision may include reduction of positive COVID-19 cases in schools; less identified close contacts who need to quarantine—or because of universal masking did not need to; a lower student absenteeism rate; available staffing and substitute teachers; local hospital and ICU capacity; community transmission rates, and ability to physical distance in our school.

To see daily Seward Elementary data and operation status, the https://covid19.kpbsd.org/dashboard includes daily school specifics. The COVID-19 Hub covid19.kpbsd.org has resources and the KPBSD mitigation plan. If something changes and deserves direct communication from me, you will definitely hear at that time.  Thank you.

Sincerely,
Alan Haskins, Principal Seward Elementary School

PS: You can help protect your family and community: if you or someone you know has any symptoms of illness, stay home, and get a free COVID-19 test. Everyone 12 and older can receive a free vaccination to help prevent serious illness or death.
