{"id":5694,"date":"2023-02-23T15:36:33","date_gmt":"2023-02-24T00:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/seward-elementary\/?p=5694"},"modified":"2023-02-25T00:18:17","modified_gmt":"2023-02-25T09:18:17","slug":"safety-closure-drill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/seward-elementary\/safety-closure-drill\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Safety Closure&#8221; drill"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>February 23, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents and Guardians: we will be practicing a &#8220;Safety Closure&#8221; drill on Wednesday, March 1st, at 10:30 a.m. using the A.L.I.C.E. protocols. Teachers will be working with their students in the coming week in anticipation of this drill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to give our staff and students more options to protect themselves, KPBSD adopted the A.L.I.C.E. protocols to be used when the presence of a violent intruder necessitates a \u201cSafety Closure.\u201d A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym <a><\/a>for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate. These protocols are age appropriate, not sequential, or chronological, and those involved have the ability to change protocols as an incident develops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve attached KPBSD Emergency Guidelines for Parents and Guardians.
