{"id":3639,"date":"2020-10-08T13:55:31","date_gmt":"2020-10-08T21:55:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/seward-high\/?p=3639"},"modified":"2021-02-03T10:43:51","modified_gmt":"2021-02-03T19:43:51","slug":"donald-giles-vocational-scholarship-often-applied-to-avtec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/seward-high\/donald-giles-vocational-scholarship-often-applied-to-avtec\/","title":{"rendered":"Donald Giles Vocational Scholarship (often applied to AVTEC)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Students located in <strong>Petersburg, Seward or the Homer<\/strong> <strong>communities<\/strong> are invited to apply for a scholarship towards their vocational education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Three (3) scholarships will be awarded for $5,000 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Received High-school diploma or GED certificate within the past two years;<\/li><li>Is a resident of the Petersburg, Seward or Homer community;<\/li><li>Pursuing training, certification, or a degree in vocational or trade studies (such as HVAC, plumbing, electrician, refrigeration, IT, Heavy equipment or engine tech, culinary, welding, construction tech, office and biz tech, etc.)<\/li><li>A letter of recommendation from a school counselor, teacher, or adult mentor<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Preference:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Individuals with the intention to return to work in home community or at least within the state of Alaska<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/alaskacf.org\/blog\/scholarships\/donald-giles-vocational-scholarship\/\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/strong> TO APPLY<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students located in Petersburg, Seward or the Homer communities are invited to apply for a scholarship towards their vocational education.
