{"id":2593,"date":"2022-01-31T17:34:37","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T02:34:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/soldotna-montessori\/?page_id=2593"},"modified":"2025-01-24T14:12:12","modified_gmt":"2025-01-24T23:12:12","slug":"alaska-safe-childrens-act","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/kpbsd.org\/schools\/soldotna-montessori\/alaska-safe-childrens-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Alaska Safe Children&#8217;s Act"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>SMCS is required to comply with the Alaska Safe Children\u2019s Act (informally known as Erin\u2019s and Bree\u2019s Law) which is made up of two separate pieces of legislation and went into effect on June 30, 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AS 14.30.355 (Erin\u2019s Law)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AS 14.30.356 (Bree\u2019s Law)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.state.ak.us\/basis\/statutes.asp#14.30.355\"><strong>AS 14.30.355\u00a0Sexual Abuse &amp; Sexual Assault Awareness &amp; Prevention<\/strong><\/a><strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The governing body of each school district shall adopt and implement a policy, establish a training program for employees and students, and provide parent notices relating to sexual abuse and sexual assault awareness and prevention for students enrolled in grades kindergarten through 12.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>SMCS uses the District approved Great Body Shop curriculum to accomplish this requirement which has also been approved by the SMCS Academic Policy Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Great Body Shop student instructional pages and teacher lessons guides are available electronically and available to parents upon request to the principal.
