KPBSD Parent Communications Test

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the KPBSD will send TEST emergency messages via email, text message, and automated phone call.

These are the methods we have to alert you directly in an emergency situation. If you do not receive our TEST message in all the ways you want, please contact your child(rens) school to ensure your contact information is up to date.

Contact information for parents/guardians can be updated by submitting a Student Contact Update form via the KPBSD Forms Portal. Your school office can help you get your PowerSchool parent/guardian account set up. District staff members can check and request contact information updates in the Webpay Employee Portal. To receive text messages, a cell phone needs to be designated as your primary number, and you must opt-in for text messaging.

In the event that school is cancelled, or delayed start is implemented, usually in response to weather events, we will use all of these methods and post notices on the website and Facebook. In these situations, we also send an announcement out to our local news outlets.

In the event that safety measures are activated at a location during the day, such as all exterior doors of a school being locked in response to nearby law enforcement activity or school threat, we will send out notices to parents/guardian during the security event by text message and email. Once these situations are resolved, the school district or your school principal will follow up with more detailed communication via phone call and/or email.

If you have further questions about receiving emergency messages from the district, please work with your school office staff of contact Assistant Superintendent Kari Dendurent at kdendurent@kpbsd.k12.ak.us or 907.714.8835.
