Hi, my name is Kumi (pronounces “Coo’ Mee”) Shields. I will be the new school psychologist at Sterling Elementary this school year! This will be my 8th year in the KPBSD. I was born and raised in Japan. I was a foreign exchange student from Japan at Skyview High when it used to be a high school. I met my husband who is from Kasilof at Skyview J I have an 11-year-old son who is a new 6th grader this school year. He keeps me busy along with my two adorable cats, two extremely needy and attention-seeking Nigerian Dwarf goats, and six chickens. I make all kinds of things with our goat milk like soaps and cheese. I love animals and enjoy biking, hiking, cross-country skiing, and kayaking. I would like to start Nordic ice skating this winter!
