Mr. Druce – We’re back!

It’s hard to imagine summer is almost over. Hopefully, you had a great summer. I know I did, even if it was a little too rainy. I spent a lot of my summer raising and selling peonies at our Peony You-Pick farm. But I got a little time off to play a role in a locally made film called Chasing Rainbows. I play a guy hundreds of years old who has become part of a tree. Great fun and great memories. That’s the way summer ought to be, great fun and great memories.

Time to shift gears and set our sights on school. We have two new teachers this year, Ms. Roxie Quick, K-5, and Ms. Kate Keener, 6-12. They are excited to be a part of our school and community.

So, what’s new?

Renee and Harold have been working hard to spruce up the building. We’ve received approval to set up coop volleyball with Nanwalek and Port Graham, we’ll be introducing some new curriculum updates, and the high school group has its sights on Close Up in Washington D.C. in the spring.

CELLPHONE POLICY – We love these things, but they have no place in the classroom. No question, they are convenient and do wonderful things, but the reality is they are a distraction. The rule is this: park them in the office caddy in the morning before school. If you need it at lunch, okay, but put it back in the caddy until school is out. Whatever you think you missed, there’ll be so much more to enjoy after school.
