School Projects/Initiatives

Redoubt Elementary takes pride in engaging with the local Soldotna community to provide the best possible educational and social-emotional experiences. Redoubt is proud of our partnership with the local Senior Center. Once a week our local seniors visit the Redoubt students and engage in reading and other relevant activities that are crucial to students’ academic growth. Redoubt has also partnered with the Lions Club and Kenaitze which will allow the school to meet the social-emotional and behavioral needs of students who are expressing difficulties in that area.

Honors, Awards and Recognitions

Redoubt Elementary is a PBIS School (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports). PBIS is an organized data driven system of interventions, strategies, and supports that positively impact school-wide and individual behavior planning. It provides staff with multiple approaches in addressing unwanted behaviors while promoting a school culture of being Safe, Responsible, Respectful, & Kind. The PBIS team will work with the teacher to establish the best possible Tier II intervention(s) for any student who might be experiencing difficulties. If those interventions have not been successful, at this point the situation/behavioral concerns will be presented to the Redoubt Intervention Team.

Along with new to profession mentors, KPBSD now have CKLA and iReady mentors to support teachers directly. KPBSD is looking to build this in all content areas as implementation occurs, and have limited availability for science and Secondary ELA, but help is available for those too. They can support in a number of ways including coming to the school and working with the teacher, meeting online or on the phone, sharing resources, and more. These mentors can support new to profession, struggling teachers, and new to grade level.

Redoubt is committed to making the best possible decisions for the school and has established a Leadership Team. The purpose of the leadership team is listed below:
a. THE WHY: Desire to have a nimble team ready to discuss staffing, planning, etc. Everyone will have time to process, but a small team means we can be swift.
b. Leadership team will share information out to their grade level/team as well as garnish feedback for the leadership team to make decision.
c. Ensure that Intermediate, Primary, and Special Services are all represented. This will allow the team to have a well-rounded view/approach when making difficult decisions, while maintaining an emphasis on PBIS.
