The KPBSD Effective Literacy Team will be responsible for developing a district roadmap that articulates literacy improvement goals and guidance that will help identify steps that will be taken to achieve them.  This committee is charged with collaboratively developing the KPBSD Vision and Mission for Literacy and providing direction on district structures and practices to support high quality, effective literacy instruction for all KPBSD students.  Effective Literacy Team Application

The Effective Literacy Team is seeking members from all stakeholder groups who have strong collaboration skills, are open to diverse perspectives, and have a passion or expertise in literacy instruction. Parents, the book fair will be open after school on Monday, Oct. 31, 2:30-3:30, if you’d like to shop!

Seward Middle School will be holding a Scholastic Book Fair November 1-3 in the middle school library! Students will be shopping at the fair with their classes. Payment methods: cash, check (made out to Seward Middle School), or credit card. To pay by credit card, please send a note with your phone number, so I can call you to process payment. On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, the KPBSD will send TEST emergency messages via email, text message, and automated call. These are the methods we have available to alert you directly in an emergency situation.

If you do not receive our TEST message in all the ways you want, please contact your child(rens) school to ensure your contact information is up to date.

KRISPY KREME FUNDRAISER

This school year, Seward Middle School students will be able to participate in the Kids 2 Slopes field trips in January and February 2023.  Each grade will have 2 days of ski or snowboard lessons at Alyeska Ski Resort, which includes lessons, lift tickets, rental equipment, and bus transportation.  Fundraising will help lower the student cost of the field trips, so the more donuts we sell, the cheaper it is for you to ski!  

Here’s how to use your packet:

• Ask friends and family to support your field trips by buying boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts.  Each box costs $15 and has one dozen original glazed donuts. It’s a great idea to take your sales packet to get-togethers, church gatherings, your parents’ workplace.
• Collect the money from them, put it in the big envelope, and fill out their information on the order form taped on the outside. We must have their name and phone number!!!
• You only have 10 days to sell donuts!  Order forms and envelopes with money need to be turned in to Loretta at the office by Friday, October 21st.  Don’t worry; we’ll remind you as we get closer.
• HERE’S THE IMPORTANT PART: The people you sell the donuts to are responsible for their own donut pick up.  They must be picked up during the pick up time, which is Thursday, October 27th between 4pm-6pm, at Seward Middle School!  Any leftover donuts will be donated. 
• The Advisory Class that sells the most donuts will win a pizza party!!!!
