Dear Families of HMS 7th Grade Science Students,
The seventh grade science students have been practicingtheir observation skills and learning about plant characteristics inclass. Now it is time for them to start their Alaska Native PlantCollection project at home! Luckily, it looks like we have some greatweather for the next few days which should make it a perfect time for studentsto collect and press local, native plants!
Students were provided information sheets about the plantproject recently in science class with all the details of the steps andexpectations. The information is also posted on Canvas. In class,we did a sample collection and pressing but most of this project is to be doneat home. Although the completed project is not due until October 10,students will need to collect and press their plant samples soon so the plantsamples have ample time to dry, which can take a few weeks.
This is a fun project for students and also a great one forfamily members to be involved with if they would like.
It has been a super start to the school year so far. Iam looking forward to seeing what the students create with this interestingscience project.
Sincerely,
Margi Blanding
