Health services supports the concept of optimal physical, mental and emotional health for all students. This goal is realized through the combined efforts of the Health Services and the School Nurse working in tandem with the building staff. The school nurse is a valuable link in the chain that helps each student achieve and maintain individual optimal health so that they are ready and able to learn.
Some of the areas identified to be within the professional duties of the school nurse include first aide and crisis management, identification of health concerns, specialized nursing services and procedures, infectious disease control, student health, multidisciplinary team member, and instruction & health resource.
