First we learn, then we teach. 🎨🏔️Our 6th–12th graders followed a step-by-step tutorial to paint a beautiful Alaskan landscape. Then they turned around and became the teachers, each one adopting younger students and guiding them as they created a painting of their own.A few years ago, Father Oleksa taught our older students that they are the elders of our school community, the ones who care for and guide those coming up behind them. It was a joy to see his lesson still alive in our halls as our older students slowed down, encouraged, and cheered on their younger partners.The paintings are wonderful, but the real masterpiece was the mentoring and care that our students show each other. 💙 Quyana KPBSD Indigenous Education for sending us the kits.
