The i-Ready Diagnostic data showed substantial growth from fall to spring, with many students moving closer to or above grade-level expectations. A total of 197 out of 210 students participated in the spring assessment window.

Students performing on or above grade level increased from 13% in the fall to 54% in the spring, growing from 25 students to 106 students. Students performing Mid or Above Grade Level increased from 5% to 28%, while students performing Early On Grade Level increased from 8% to 26%.

Supporting a Positive and Safe School Environment at NNS

At Nikiski North Star, we are committed to creating a school environment where every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. Over the past two years, we’ve focused on building a positive school culture by teaching social-emotional skills and reinforcing positive behavior through schoolwide expectations.

What We Focused On:

Last year, we introduced tools like Kelso’s Choices, Zones of Regulation, and Second Step to help students learn how to solve problems, manage emotions, and treat others with respect. We also began using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to create clear behavior expectations across our school.

What We Saw:

Office interaction data helps us monitor student behavior trends and evaluate how effectively we are supporting positive school culture and student well-being.

Office Interaction Entries

  • 2023–2024: 157 entries
  • 2024–2025: 164 entries
  • 2025–2026: 121 entries (as of May 19, 2026)

Over the past year, we continued focusing on student wellbeing lessons, consistent schoolwide expectations, restorative conversations, and proactive student support. These efforts contributed to a significant reduction in office interactions across the school.
