Rotary Club- 2 opportunities

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) will be held April 15th – 17th this year. Due to the pandemic our district has opted for a virtual RYLA camp this year. RYLA is for highschool sophomores and juniors that demonstrate good leadership and citizenship to their peers and communities. Participants will be introduced to leadership skills and qualities that become necessary in adulthood. Students that the teachers and staff of Seward High School feel would represent our community well at this conference are encouraged to apply by simply filling out the attached form and sending it to jc.collins.jake@gmail.com

The Rotary Club of Seward is excited to be starting our own:

Young Entrepreneurial Scholarship program. A plurality of our local Rotarians are small business owners and can all remember many difficulties in our careers that would have been avoided if we knew a little more about what we were getting into when we started our own business. So, we are wanting to volunteer our time to educate the students about what it takes to run a business, so that they can hit the ground running when they are older and potentially ready to open a business of their own. Then iff the students are interested, their parents are on board, and the YES committee feels they have demonstrated the work ethic that will be required; our club would sponsor the cost (up to a limit) of the student starting their own low capital niche business, in a sector that is feasible to run in Seward Alaska  and guide them through operating it for the summer months. This is an exciting opportunity and we would like to have interested students write a letter to The Rotary Club of Seward explaining who they are, why they like the idea of owning their own business and what challenges they see standing in their way. These letters can be emailed to jc.collins.jake@gmail.com
