Two things to update families of our Seward Elementary students:
1) Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, February 11th is an early release day with students getting out of school 1-1/2 hours earlier than their regularly scheduled day. (Kindergarteners released at 1:20, all other students at 1:30) Buses will drop your students off 1-1/2 hours earlier than their regular drop-off time.
2) Please read the letter below regarding the lifting of universal masking at Seward Elementary beginning tomorrow, Friday February 11, 2022.
Dear Seward Elementary families and staff,
Thank you for your effort in the past four weeks to keep as many people attending school in person. Our school will no longer require universal masking beginning February 11th, 2022; however, we strongly encourage face coverings indoors at school. Factors that impacted this decision may include reduction of positive COVID-19 cases in schools, less identified close contacts who need to quarantine, a lower student absenteeism rate; available staffing and substitute teachers, local hospital and ICU capacity, community transmission rates, and ability to physically distance in our school.
To see daily Seward Elementary data and operation status, the https://covid19.kpbsd.org/dashboard includes daily school specifics. The COVID-19 Hub covid19.kpbsd.org has resources and the KPBSD mitigation plan. If something changes and deserves direct communication from me, you will definitely hear at that time. You can help protect your family and community: if you or someone you know has any symptoms of illness, stay home, and get a free COVID-19 test.
Sincerely,
Alan Haskins
