SAR’s George S. & Stella M. Knight Essay Contest

Students (grades 9-12) are eligible to submit an original essay with topics based on original research and deal with an event, person, philosophy or ideal associated with the American Revolution, Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution.

In Alaska, students will first compete at the State level and myself and other SAR Compatriots will select the winner.  That essay will then be entered into the National competition where the winning essay will earn $5000, a medal, and a trip to a recognition ceremony.  2nd and 3rd place also earn cash awards.

State-level awards include $500 for 1st place, $250 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place with recognition certificates as well as a medal for the first place winner.

Essays will be e-mailed directly to me in PDF format and the deadline is December 31, 2017.
