KPBSD Accessibility Statement

Accessibility

It is the intent of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District that the information on its website be accessible to individuals with disabilities in compliance with the requirements of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and that statute's implementing regulations at 34 C.F.R. Part 104, and Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and that statute's implementing regulations at 28 C.F.R. Part 35.

As of December 1, 2017, KPBSD utilizes a 3rd party service (Siteimprove) to review new, modified, and existing content for accessibility and quality assurance issues, benchmarked against WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards. Issues identified through the Siteimprove service are reviewed and addressed by the KPBSD Webmaster, with oversight by the Director of Information Services. Issues are prioritized by content age (addressing newest content first), with a secondary prioritization on existing content based on analytic data (most accessed content addressed next).

Many pages on the KPBSD website are in HTML format, accessible to users of assistive technologies (such as a screen reader, eye tracking device, or voice recognition software). Our website also contains a number of Adobe PDF and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) files. Some legacy PDF and/or Office files may not be accessible. If you encounter accessibility issues with any content, please contact the KPBSD Webmaster at webmaster@kpbsd.org and arrangements will be made to send an alternate version.

Please note that some pages on the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District website contain links to third party sites, which are not within the district’s control and may not comply with accessibility standards. The district is not responsible for the content or accessibility of third party sites.

What to do if you encounter issues

If you encounter any issues accessing content on the KPBSD website, or encounter difficulties using assistive technologies with posted content, please contact the KPBSD Webmaster at webmaster@kpbsd.org and provide the URL (web address) of the material you tried to access, the problem you experienced, and your contact information so that we can provide the information in another format.

General feedback on website usability should be directed to the KPBSD Suggestion Box. All submissions are routed to the appropriate department for further review and response.

Grievances can be filed with the district using the procedures established by the Public Complaints Concerning Discrimination policy BP 1312.3 and Administrative Regulation AR 1312.3.
