INSTRUCTIONS
A plan of career education concepts, activities and test evaluation procedures.
STEP 1 | The teacher will administer the pre test to the class in September. The purpose of this test is to determine the students’ understanding of basic Career Education concepts. |
STEP 2 | The pre test is scored and a summarization report of the class is completed by the teacher. Make two copies of the summarization report. (One copy to your principal and the second copy for your records.) |
STEP 3 | The teacher then begins to introduce the prepared concepts and activities to the class, placing particular emphasis on the items most frequently missed on the pre test. |
STEP 4 | The post test is administered in April. The purpose of this test is to determine if a change occurred from the previous testing. |
STEP 5 | The post test is scored and a summarization report of the class is completed by the teacher. Make two copies of the summarization report. (One copy to your principal and the second copy for your records. |

CAREER EDUCATION SURVEY FOR GRADE 2
DIRECTIONS TO THE TEACHER
Each student will receive an answer sheet. The teacher and/or aide reads each statement to students (preferably in small groups) and the students make a mark in the yes or no circle. Observe markings closely.
Appreciation and Attitudes
- Usually if I am nice to others they will be nice to me.
- I feel good when others like me.
- Playing a game with others is more fun when I follow the rules.
Self
- Some students in my class are taller than others.
- All second graders are able to do the same work.
- Some students in my class can draw better than others.
Decision Making
- The students make all the classroom rules.
- When I can’t figure things out, I ask questions.
- I can usually think of different ways to work out tough problems.
Educational
- Learning to read will help me in my work.
- People of all ages need to use math.

Career
- Mothers and fathers can work at the same job.
- Men or women can work as a principal.
- It would be okay if everyone in America had the same job.
Economic
- People could still work out a fair way to buy things even if no one in the world had money.
- It is helpful for me to know how to use money.

Skill
- It is important to be able to talk clearly.
- The only time I’ll ever need to write letters will be when I write to my friends.
- Speaking well is important only to people who give speeches.
Employability
- I can tell when my friends feel angry even when they don’t say they are.
- Some students do not like schoolwork.
- Students always do their best work.
