The Nikiski Middle High School Counseling and Guidance program is available to all students.

Hello everyone! Let me introduce myself. I am Karen Hixson, I grew up in
Colorado (The Western Slope although I graduated from Fort Lupton, CO.)
My husband is from MO. We compromised and moved to Kansas where we
raised our children. My husband Clyde is a retired truck driver and a
military veteran. Our son Clyde still resides in Kansas. Our daughter Kayla
is a Special Education Teacher in Kenny Lake, AK. She has 2 children
ages 3 and 6. We enjoy spending time with them.
Prior to being a counselor I was a Para Educator. I received my Masters
degree in School Counseling from Emporia State University in May, 2022.
We moved to Homer, AK last summer. I served my first year as school
counselor at Homer Middle School and the Head of the Bay.
I love being a school counselor. Please feel free to stop by and chat
anytime. I enjoy art and photography. I try to keep coloring pages on my
table for stress relief. Feel free to color while chatting.
I am looking forward to the 2023-2024 School Year and I will try to update
college and career information as I receive it. I will update SAT/ACT
information. Go Bulldogs!
