Skyview Middle School is a comprehensive middle school with a typical enrollment of 405 full-time students in seventh and eighth grade. This past year, SMS continued to provide a full array of elective courses such as music, art, vocational/technical education, and foreign language. SMS also provided many opportunities for students that needed additional supports as well as STEAM enrichment.
With COVID 19 precautions in place, Skyview has had to adjust some of their course delivery and schedules in order to create the safest environment possible. Four teams, encompassing 16 separate cohort groups, have been created in order to help mitigate and lessen the potential risk of exposure for students and staff. It is our hope, that in the near future, the public health crisis will lessen and Skyview will return to its typical models for instruction and scheduling.
This is year ten with Mr. Sarge Truesdell as the principal of Skyview Middle School, and is the sixth year for assistant-principal, Jill DuFloth. We are in year four for fully integrating Personalized Learning into our culture and curriculum. This year we are focusing on providing quality instruction through both in-person and remote educational delivery to students. Our PL strategies and newly developed student competencies using technology and digital formats have helped us adjust to a new paradigm for learning.
