River City Academy

In August 2007, River City Academy opened its doors to a diverse group of 9th and 10th grade students, in a small, performance based learning environment located within the boundaries of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District in Soldotna. In the fall of 2009, RCA expanded to include middle school students in grades 7 and 8. As of today RCA has grades 7th-12th.  River City Academy is designed to incorporate project-based education in a rigorous learning environment immersed with technology. Students attending River City Academy gain the skills necessary to become thoughtful, engaged citizens. Paralleling the academics, students are provided opportunities to work “in the field” on individual projects through internships and professional experiences.

A small school environment that provides individualization, River City Academy supports the diversity and success of each and every student. We want our students to stretch, to grow, to reach higher and farther, and to become successful citizens. We seek to impart to our students a love of learning, the ability to put their education to productive use, and the tools needed to be successful.

At River City Academy, we focus on responsibility. Students learn about leadership and integrity, about living and working cooperatively in groups and about the value of ethics. Many of our graduates go on to college and technical schools ready to meet the challenge. Others will have developed strong foundations for launching straight into businesses or careers of their choice. But most importantly, all of our students will leave with the tools they need to be successful in life. At River City Academy, students will gain an education for a lifetime.

I would like to invite you to explore River City Academy, a performance-based school in the KPBSD.
