Carl Perkins IV Reports

To access KPBSD CTE data:

1. Go to the EED CTE website at https://education.alaska.gov/tls/cte/perkins/public/.
2. At the bottom of the page under “Carl Perkins IV Reports – Public Federal Reporting Requirements”, choose the district name in the dropdown menu.  
3. Our district’s CTE data will appear momentarily.

Work CoOp and Work Release

Workplace Experience (Work Coop, OJT, Mentorship)

Description: Students will gain practical work experience while working on a job-site and receive a high school practical art credit. The work experience should be in the student’s chosen career pathway. A student must have taken a Career and Technical Education class that is related to the job skill being used at the work site.  All students must complete the on-line “Employability Skills” class before receiving credit for any of the work experience courses.

Students may have no more than 2 credits worth of work experience related credits.

There are three types of work experience options. Employers involved in these programs are required to abide by all State and Federal labor laws.

• Cooperative (Work Coop)
  • Paid employment
  • 60 hours required for ½ high school practical art credit
  • Work must all take place in the same semester.
  • Verification of hours is required.
  • Journal and career development worksheets required. 
• On-the-Job training (OJT)
  • Non-Paid employment
  • 60 hours required for ½ high school practical art credit
  • Work must all take place in the same semester.
  • Verification of hours is required.
  • Journal and career development worksheets required.
• Mentorship
  • Non-Paid Employment
  • 60 hours required for ½ high school practical art credit
  • Work must all take place in the same semester.
  • Verification of hours is required
  • Journal and career development worksheets required.
  • A final multimedia project is required.

Work Release

Offered to students who have a job and do NOT need credit for working. Students will earn NO credit for participating in the Release program. A parent contract is required verifying employment. Available to Juniors & Seniors. Sophomores may be accepted under extraordinary situations with the approval of the schools’ Administrator. Work Release Student Evaluation Form.

Cooperative Work Release (CoOp)

Offered to students who have a job and would like to earn credit. An Employer Agreement is required verifying employment & outlining reporting responsibilities by the employer & student. Available to Juniors & Seniors. **Sophomores may be accepted under extraordinary situations with the approval of the schools Administrator. Student completing approved training plans may earn one-half (1/2) elective credit per semester to a total of two (2). Work CoOp Agreement & Parental Consent Form.

Career Exploration

Naviance

• Naviance is the KPBSD new College and Career readiness platform. The curriculum allows students to explore careers and interests, set goals and complete lessons on topics like Personal Finance, Financial aid, Employability skills, and create their 6 year school course plan. Naviance is being rolled out during the 2023-24 school year and is available to 6th-12th grade students. Learn more about Naviance
