The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) is proud to announce that Jenna Fabian, Principal of Nikiski North Star Elementary, has been named the recipient of The Alan Haskins Principal of the Year Award for 2023.
The Alan Haskins Principal of the Year Award is a prestigious honor that recognizes a KPBSD administrator who exemplifies the exceptional qualities of former Seward Elementary Principal Alan Haskins. These qualities include character, integrity, perseverance, work ethic, empathy, and selflessness.
In April of 2022, Mr. Haskins was the first recipient of the KPBSD Principal of the Year Award. Sadly, he passed away on March 7th, 2023. To honor Mr. Haskins’ legacy and impact on his students, staff, and the community of Seward, the KPBSD Principal of the Year Award has been renamed The Alan Haskins Principal of the Year Award.
The Alan Haskins Principal of the Year Award is considered the highest recognition that a KPBSD principal can receive. This award acknowledges Ms. Fabian’s outstanding leadership qualities and dedication to her school community.

Ms. Fabian’s exceptional leadership has had a significant impact on Nikiski North Star Elementary and the wider KPBSD community. Her commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment has helped students achieve academic success and thrive socially and emotionally.
