The Health Care Providers Scholarship has provided an annual award to lower Kenai Peninsula high school graduates since 1985. In 2006, local healthcare providers established a permanent endowment at the Homer Foundation to ensure that the scholarship would continue in perpetuity. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to students from the lower Kenai Peninsula, who are pursuing a career in a health care-related field at an accredited professional or technical school. Applicants may apply as a high school graduate or in any given year of their post-graduate studies but may receive the award only once.

The awards from this fund vary from $1,000-$5,000 and generally, there are multiple awards made each year.

Requirements: Applicant must be pursuing a career in a health care field. Preference is given to students already accepted into their healthcare program. Applicant must be a current year or post graduate of a school located within the Homer Foundation service area or residing in the area who are high school graduates or who have achieved a GED equivalent. Applicants who have already graduated from high school are defined as “Post-High School Students” and have separate requirements, which will be shown in the application.
