We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Nicole Murphy has been awarded the prestigious Golden Apple recognition for her outstanding work with the RISE Program (wrap around supports for at-risk students). Ms. Murphy’s dedication to her students is truly remarkable, as evidenced by the numerous nominations she received from her students themselves. They spoke of how she always puts them first and helps with all their needs, not just those related to academics but those related to life outside of school as well. Ms. Murphy’s steady encouragement and belief in her students’ potential have helped them push past their comfort zones and achieve more than they thought possible.
Nicole’s efforts have included providing unique opportunities students would not have had otherwise, such as trips to Juneau and Washington, DC, where they learned about their state, their country, and themselves. As one student put it, “Some of us never believed college was an option until these experiences.” Ms. Murphy’s mentorship and guidance have increased her students’ self-esteem, and her high expectations have helped them reach their goals.
Superintendent Clayton Holland stated, “Ms. Murphy goes above and beyond for her students every day. The work she is doing is literally changing the course of life for her students. There is no doubt that Ms. Murphy is a true difference-maker.” We are so grateful to have staff like Ms. Murphy who care so deeply for their students’ well-being and success. Congratulations, Nicole, on this well-deserved recognition!
We are proud to have Ms. Murphy as a part of our district, and her dedication to her students is a true testament to her commitment to education. Her work with the Students in Transition Program and at-risk students has made a significant impact on the lives of many. We congratulate Ms. Murphy on her well-deserved recognition and thank her for her continued efforts to support and inspire our students.
