Director of Secondary Education
KPBSD School Counselors
KPBSD maintains staffing for school counselors at the middle and high school levels. School counselors are Master’s degree level educators credentialed by the State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development. School counselors design and deliver comprehensive school counseling programs that promote student achievement; they are an integral component of a school’s academic mission. Programs are driven by student data and are based on standards in academic, career and personal/social development.
A number of additional resources are available to assist the KPBSD school counselors in the delivery of comprehensive school counseling programs. These resources often have a specific focus; access to students and classrooms should always be coordinated with the school counselor to avoid duplication of efforts and to ensure efficiency in order to minimize loss of classroom educational time.
